Acting into Authenticity

From the moment we enter this world, we are categorized. For most of us, these categories will define us for the rest of our lives. Probably unsurprisingly, many of the things people tell us about ourselves will ultimately have some truth to them.

Sometimes knowing these things can help us take ourselves to the next level, hone our skills and natural abilities, and move up. But sometimes, these categories do exactly what it is that categories are intended to do— they box us in. They tell us not just who we are and who we are not, but who we can and can not be. Yet, we are bigger than our categories.

Our potential spans beyond the human capacity to quantify us. Who we are today might not be who we are tomorrow, and we have endless opportunities to act out of the character we’ve been placed in and into authenticity. We can be whoever we want — now act like it!
